Our upgrades were developed in the form of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which modifies the original type certificate for which an aircraft would be manufactured. They include higher horsepower engine and propeller upgrades, propeller only upgrades and a stand engine alone STC. Not only do we offer the STC options owned by Davis Aviation, but relationships have been developed with other STC holders to offer their product line for other aircraft.

We provide a propeller kit package for your convenience, as well as offer other parts and accessories that you may want to install with your engine upgrade. As for your engine, we determine the proper IO-550 engine spec you need and allow you to source your engine yourself. We can quote the engine for you and add it to the propeller kit package. We can offer the Seaplanes West engine mount, JPI/EI engine analyzers, Plane Power (Hartzell Engine Technology) alternators, McFarlane controls, Acorn or Knisley Exhaust Systems, Air Forms engine baffling, Wing-X wing extensions, etc. for your convenience. Davis Aviation was established in 1997 with the Bonaire 550 conversion for the Cessna 188. This came as a result of Bob Davis Flying Service starting out as a Bonaire 550 customer/operator. Followed by distribution of the 550 conversions and then purchasing the Cessna 188 STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates) for Davis Aviation. Davis Aviation purchased the balance of the Bonaire 550 STC’s in 1998.

Donna Jones, who worked with Bonaire Aviation and helped develop the Bonaire STC’s continued with Davis Aviation. With 34 different STCs, this established Davis Aviation as one of the largest stand alone STC conversion companies in the aviation industry. Since that time, we have sold some of the STCs, but kept the bulk of the Bonaire line. We still supply for those companies even though we no longer own the STCs.
